Selling our condo was a big challenge for us. It took 5 months to finally decide to sell and move back to Upstate New York. As much as we had prepared before listing the condo, the work just got more demanding - showings, inspection, forms, contingencies, not to mention booking movers and finding a rental in New York. So Ted was like a teammate in that regard, especially with the busy work that came up after going into contract. Two months after listing we have closed, moved, and settled in in New York. Both the very different real estate environment here and our unfamiliarity with Chicago neighborhoods posed significant challenges. Ted was terrific and really willing to go the extra mile to get the job done. I interviewed Ted (and three others) before selecting him as my agent, so I had a pretty good idea of who he was and how he would approach the sale of my condo. From the start, he was candid about the things he would want to change about my place before it went on the market, including which changes he thought would be cost effective, but always let me make the ultimate call on any repairs or improvements. He was patient with me as I agonized over decisions (that were likely not all that significant) and never displayed any frustration with me, even though I failed to have my place completely ready for the photographer and even on the first day of showings. Instead, Ted just jumped right in to help me get the place ready and to make things work. He truly went beyond the job description to get my place sold. We ended up with multiple offers and the process of choosing an offer to accept and completing the negotiations for the contract went very smoothly. I received more than my asking price, and I am very happy with the outcome.
